How to market my app

How to market my app: say who it is for, prove the job on a page they can install from, then put that proof in ads and organic posts. Everything else - influencers, cinematic trailers, spray paid social - waits until a stranger understands the product in ten seconds. Clippable removes the blank-canvas creative work once that sentence exists.

Position and the person

Write the product as a sentence a tired founder would say out loud. “AI for productivity” is not positioning. “Turn a Figma frame into a TikTok-sized ad in one chat” is closer. Name the ideal customer in a role plus a constraint (indie iOS, B2B admin, local shop). If you cannot name ten people, you do not have an audience yet, you have a hope.

Landing page and store assets

The landing page and the App Store / Play listing must tell the same story. Screenshots should show the actual UI doing the job, not a gradient and a slogan. Preview video is optional; a clear first screenshot is not. Clippable can draft ad creative from those screenshots. It cannot invent a listing Google will rank.

Ad creative, organic, paid tests

Organic: post the same hook you would put in an ad, in places the ICP already hangs out. Paid: one campaign, one destination, one activation event. Kill the ad if the page does not convert; do not “optimize creative” on a broken offer. For app-specific generation, use the AI ad generator for apps.

Activation, retention, measurement

Install is not the product. Measure time-to-first-value. If people bounce after signup, more ads make the problem louder. Keep a simple sheet: spend, installs, activated users, 7-day return. Invented benchmarks from Twitter threads are not a dashboard.

Founder checklist

  1. One-sentence positioning a stranger can repeat
  2. Named ICP (role + constraint), not “everyone”
  3. Landing page and store listing that match that sentence
  4. Current screenshots / icon / preview that show the real UI
  5. One organic channel you can post to weekly
  6. One paid test with a single activation event
  7. A retention look after the first week of paid traffic

Clippable takes items 4–6’s production load: screenshots → on-brand ads and short clips. You still own 1–3 and 7.

Where the work gets shorter

Catalog captures, not customer testimonials. Use them as a picture of the creative step, not as proof that an app grew.

Questions people actually search

You still need a clear offer, a landing or store page that matches it, and one distribution channel you can repeat. Unpaid work is positioning, store assets, communities, and talking to users. Paid tests come after the page converts a handful of people you already know.

Fix the listing and the landing page first. Ads to a confusing store page buy you expensive confusion. Creative can wait until the destination is honest.

One hook, one screenshot of the real product, one outcome. Test that before a cinematic brand film. Clippable’s Make ads flow is built for that first still.

Pick one activation event (signup, first project, first export) and watch cost to that event, not vanity installs. Retention after day 1 tells you whether ads are filling a leaky bucket.

Creative production: static ads, carousels, short video, and brand-context drafts. It does not replace customer interviews, store review replies, or your analytics account.
